In light of prime day, I want to finally treat myself to a echo studio. However, what I can not decide at the moment is whether it is worth pairing it with the echo sub or not? Will I still get clear deep bass with just the studio or will it help having the sub as well.
Smart Home Tech and Gadgets
Hi everyone
I am considering getting an Ecobee smart thermostat. I am wondering how accessible the app is on IOS. I know that I can use the thermostat with Alexa, but I would also like to be able to independently program the thermostat with the app.
Can anyone let me know if the app is usable with an iPhone? If not, is there another alternative?
Thanks for your help.
Hi everyone,
yesterday I won a Yale smart lock as a prize, now I'm thinking about buying an IP camera from the same company.
I'd like to ask if someone has experiences with these products? Is Yale smart home app accessible? Are smart living sollutions, in general, accessible for us?
Many thanks in advance and greetings from Croatia!
Kind regards, Tea Turkovic
Although I consider IHome basically a brand for generic tech crap, pthe ISS50 Multimonitor appears to be discontinued and is selling for $37 from after-market sellers. At that price, it compares well to any sort of talking product for the blind.
The unit is a couple of inches wide and deep, and perhaps 3.5" tall, a wite plastic box with motion and light sensor on the front and openings presumably for the temperature/humidity/sound sensors on the back, along with micro-USB power connector and buttons for display reset and dimmer.
Hi all.
I recently got tired of this old coffee pod machine I got from a friend a while ago. It has a stupid touchscreen which doesn't even work half of the time. I tryed messing around with brail lables but that didn't help much. I even tryed to get the app, but it isn't in my country's appstore.
Hi all, I want to purchase a video smart doorbell that is accessible with my Iphone and easy to install. Just wondering if anyone has come across such a beast and is willing to give some insight or point me in a direction with better information in relation to blindness.
Cheers
Conor
if this is wrong for Applevis, please delete it. But, I do need help. I have an Amazon basics deadbolt with the keypad, and I can’t reprogram my entry code. The batteries ran out and of course that meant everything got erased. I found a couple of videos which have helped a little. But, when I try to do the things it says to program my entry code, it doesn’t work. Does anyone have experience with this device and any advice?
I am looking to computerize parts of my house this summer. I would like to know if anyone has experience with thermostats, front door openers, weather sensors etc.
Where is the best place to obtain up to date and accurate information regarding compatible devices with Apple home kit? I currently have 5 smart plugs which I got through iHome Control They work reasonably well and do show up under the home app on my iPhone 6S running IOS 10.1.1. However, it still appears that to set rules etc I still need to use the iHome Control app. I also have the talking honeywell WI-FI thermostat but apparently that is not compatible with Apple's home kit as I cannot get it to appear in the app.
Hi,
I am just getting ready to jump into the smart thermostat market and have been trying to research options. I know the Nest has been around a long time and been the go-to product for awhile, but it appears Honeywell just released a thermostat that is home kit compatible. Since the idea of using Siri to control temperature is appealing, what do you guys think? Sound off in the comments if you have experiences from each company or the current accessibility state of their apps.
Thanks,
Chelsea
Just purchased this thanks to the blind life. Never bought anything from the YouTube channel before based off of the review, but I just had to with this one!
Am I the only one that sees the immense possibilities with something like this?

Hello,
I bought the Instant Pot Smart Wifi:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777XQ4S8?ref_=pe_2640190_290165290_E_304_dt_1
But I have some questions:
- If you are blind what button do you have to press to activate Wifi pairing on the device?
- What is the best app to use with your instant pot: "Instant pot" or "smart cooker"?
Thanks
Regards
Hello friends. I would like to clear up a doubt with you: I want to buy a smart digital bathroom scale, and I am really considering buying a scale from the Xiaomi company. I don’t have any device to fully evaluate the Mi Fit app, but what I’ve been able to observe navigating between the screens is that the app is quite accessible, but I’d like to confirm this with someone who has a compatible device and has already connected it and synced.
Does anyone have any experience regarding the accessibility and VoiceOver compatibility of the new iDevices thermostat, especially the iDevices Connected app used to program and control the product?
As a keen indoor cyclist I have only a basic spin bike to use but with the use of wearable sensors for cadence (spin speed rpm( a heart rate monitor (arm band(and use of the www.fitdigits iCardio app I get audio feedback on my workouts.
I am investigating getting a decent smart bike however the accessibility of the screens is always a problem, I have read that Peleton has an accessible screen by the use of talkback and wondering if anyone out there has experience of any other smartbikes that may work well with iPhone or similar.
I am looking for an indoor grill. I would like one that is controlled by an app on my iphone 7+. Any suggestions?
I wont to buy this model because it has vifi, app looks accessible but i don't know how it works.
If someone has that model please tell can blind person use it.
Tnx all
Hi all. I wasn't sure if this should go here, or in the hardware and accossories. I downloaded the remote control but I didn't see anything about how to connect one, or anything like that. Of course I don't have one yet, but if I buy the model, does anyone have any idea what app I need? I want to get all the answers before i buy something. Thanks.
Hi does anybody know have a good app or what would be a good app to install to control an Insta pot with your iPhone and to be able to set the correct settings according to your Insta pot and time and stuff like that

I have a two year old pitbull, and I’m looking for recommendations for an invisible fence, plus an accessible application to control and configure the fence. For example, say I have a 1000 square-foot yard, and I want to keep her away from things like neighboring fences, flower gardens, etc. According to what I read online there are invisible fences which can be controlled and configured with an iPhone app but I want to make sure I’m setting both my dog and myself up for success so want to know if anybody has any recommendations.
