Mac

I've been using DropBox successfully for some time on my iPhone. Now I want to use it on my Mac Mini which is running Sierra. I'm having problems with the app not providing any VO feedback. I've found a web page describing how to make DropBox accessible, involving opening it in the terminal etc. but the setup never launches. I suspect the most recent version of doesn't require this process.
Could someone point me to a discussion of how to install DropBox under Sierra so it will work properly with VO?

Many thanks.

This sounds crazy, but I would like to try macOS Monterey on my MacBook Pro M4 Pro because I'm just way too curious. I tried to download it via the App Store, but it doesn't let me proceed since my device is too new, I guess... I want to set up a dual boot, keeping my current macOS while installing an older version on the same SSD. Has anyone tried this? How can I make it happen?

Hi, I have a MacBook Air 2017
I’m unhappy with Mac OS 12, I have tried downloading the installers for macOS 11 macOS Catalina macOS Mojave macOS High Sierra and all of those files but no
None of them seem to want to install on my drive
is there a way I can install Mac West without using a bootable disc image or bootable disc drive in the first place because I’d rather not use my 2 TB hard drive because I use that for windows

Has anyone successfully managed to do this? I have been avoiding it as I knew it would end up being painful, and so it is proving.

I downloaded Tahoe using the command-line in the Apple support doc. I reformatted my USB flash drive, tan the Tahoe installer and selected it. It seemed to install OK (on the second attempt - the first failed and I had to reformat and start again)

If I try to restart from it using the Startup Disks option in System Settings, then it tells me I need to reinstall MacOS.

Hi.
I am using M3 MacBook Air and I will start studying in the Blind Institute of Technology soon. They encouraged me to try and be familiar with different screen readers. They recommended me to install NVDA. Can it be installed on Mac? If yes, then where I can find more information how to use it with a Mac.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I want to reinstall a clean install of OS 10.11. I have already erased my hard drive and when ever I try to install OS X, I cannot sign into the App Store with my Apple ID. I can't get voiceover to focus on the edit box to type in my password. Instead, it is telling me signing into the App Store when I use control option right and left arrow is and there is a progress indicator. Please help.

Hi. I have been researching potential methods to get super egghumt onto my macbook pro. I am attempting to install it via wine bottler and the articles I've read on how to geek and similar sites indicate that one need only choose open with wine bottler from the context menu of the executible file. I receive an alert that windows applications cannot run on mac and super egghunt set up cannot be opened. Clearly I'm missing some steps.

Hi all. I'm trying to install Tahoe 26.5.2 on an external SanDisk Extreme 55AE. I erased and formatted the SSD correctly using Disk Utility. I downloaded and launched the installer, ran through all the usual installation steps. Progress bar advanced to 100, then...

After the second restart, my Mac Mini has booted to my existing install on my internal SSD.

Hello,

I do not know exactly where to start for help, so I thought I would start here. I have heard in Applevis that reaper is a great DAW. I thought I would give it a try.

I was able to install the latest 64 bit osx 10.15 version of Reaper on my macbook 2018 osx 10/15. That all went fine and I could bring up the Reaper app.

Hi.
Didn't know in which forum to put this so I place it here.
Has anyone tried to install windows with a USB headset on a macbook pro with USB C ports?
Do you know if it will work?
I ask this given that the audio drivers aren't used with the first install procedure.
So I'd need to have narrator audio, because the latest versions of windows can be installed with it.

Thanks.

Hey all.

So as far as I know, you can't install Windows 10 in a bootcamp partition without sighted help because the required audio drivers will only be loaded after installation of Windows.

I could run it in a virtual machine, but I would like to run it natively if possible.

Did someone possibly figure out if it's somehow possible to install Windows without sighted help, by remembering keystrokes and what not?

I want to do a little test run on how this works while stilll using Mac productively.

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

I'm trying to install Windows 11 with VMware Fusion. Since Windows 11 doesn't have an easy install option added to Fusion, I've found it necessary to follow the steps exactly. Even so, it appears I've missed something. Starting up the VM I get the message that cannot find a startup disc, and no operating system detected. Everything in the Virtual machine shows up as connected, including the iso in the virtual DVD Drive. I tried setting the startup disc to the windows 11 iso, but no luck. What am I missing?

Hi:

So I decided to give VMware Fusion a try today. I obtained a windows 11 .iso file, downloaded and registered VMware Fusion Player, and tried to create a virtual machine. It seemed to go as planned, but I'm not getting the windows install screen. I suspect that I haven't booted form the .iso file, but I'm not sure. I was following the steps from an older article on the AFB site.

Hi, guys. I'm wondering, as a totally blind mac user, what is the best and most accessible way to install windows 10 on a MacBook Pro? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm thinking about installing windows on Big Sur in the future. I know how to use bootcamp assistant, and I've also listened to various podcasts demonstrating how to successfully install windows.
Question: after you check the "install windows 10 or later versions" option from within bootcamp assistant, it prepares the internal drive, then restarts into MacOS. how can I start the windows installation after mac restarts? any help could be great. thanks so much in advance.

Hi all
Is it possible to install Windows on entire Mac Air's SSD? I am switching to Windows and every MB of space is important for me. If it is possible, does it go like this?
1. Installing Windows using BootCamp.
2. Using Disk Utility in Windows 10 to remove MacOS partition and reallocating the space for Windows partition.
Will this lead to loss of data on Windows partition? Will I be able to boot to Windows without risking my files?
Thanks all.

Hi:

So I’ve had my Mac for a while now, and enjoy using it. However, quite a few games run only on Windows, so I’m considering installing Windows on my Intel-based Mac. Is there a way to do this without sighted assistance? The Bootcamp utility itself seems quite accessible, but I keep hearing that the audio drivers for Windows are not initially installed. I have a Macbook Pro 2017, a pair of Beats studio headphones, and no sighted help. So, is there w way to do this without making my computer inaccessible when it boots into Windows?
