I've been experimenting with a virtual Windows 11 on VMware Workstation for a while now, and the speed, responsiveness, and overall performance are so impressive—especially considering it's a VM. However, some common keyboard shortcuts, such as **Ctrl + right/left Arrow**, to navigate word by word, are not working properly because they are being interpreted by the local macOS machine.

I don't know why i'm having so much difficulty. I have just started learning Russian 3 weeks ago. I installed the "russian - phonetic" keyboard, at the reccomendation of my professor. However, I can't find one letter on it. I've had someone look at the keyboard map, i've pressed every key, and no luck. The letter I'm looking for is "Ё". May I ask for a suggestion as to either a workaround or someone to help me find the letter? I don't know why i have so many apple troubles with russian, but that is how it is.

So I have both a Mac and a Windows computer but at this point I am using the Mac over 90% of the time. When I was on the PC more I was using 1Password because Keychain obviously doesn’t work on Windows. I moved to the Mac and began using Keychain. I turned it back on and turned 1Password off on my iPad and iPhone.

Now I’m having second thoughts and want the opinions of others. How easy is 1Password to use on the Mac. I actually really disliked it in Chrome for windows because it felt like navigating it wasn’t very intuitive, but is it easy to use across the board on Mac?

So I used Keynote today and I figured out that you can read MS Powerpoints with it! That's awesome! One question though: when reading the slides, can you interact with the body or title content that you could read the words in the body or title text boxes? If anyone needs help you can ask me, I know the basics but not the advanced stuff.

How can I read line by line with VO during presentation mode on Keynote? I can read line by line while editing, but not during presentation.
It just reads the entire slide from top to bottom without stopping even if I interact with the body.
I can't remember every point in every slide, so I often have to read as I present with a Bluetooth headset. However, if VO just reads the entire slide without stopping, it's not helpful.
That's why I've been using PowerPoint on VMware Fusion instead, but I'm wondering if there's a workaround.

Does anyone know how to make the keypad work on a facetime call when you're on the Mac? Like, when you have an automated system and need to input information? It used to work just fine for me, but ever since I upgraded to the last OS x (before Mojave), it hasn't. I've tried looking up the issue on Google with little luck.

In our continuing discussion of how to make FaceTime calls on the Mac, I recently made a call that wanted me to press 1 for this and press 2 for that. If you've never done this with FaceTime on a Mac, you're in for a real adventure.

Hi! I'm wondering if there is a keystroke for closing tabs? Right now, what I do is interact with the tab bar, interact with the title of the tab, and press the Remove button. is there a less awkward way to do this? Thanks.

On windows you hit shift+enter on the restore button. How do you do it on the Mac? I have tried everything I can think of including vo+space shift+enter, vo space+enter, and vo+space+shift as well as different combinations that include the command key.

This app does not seem very accessible under Monterey. I managed to get signed in but have not been able to figure out how to download my books. Anyone using the Mac version?

I had little trouble doing this on the iPhone andiPad.

I recently downloaded the Kindle app by amazon on my mac and was devastated to find it is not accessible with VO. Is there any way for us users to make apps like this accessible on Mac, that is, an equivalent to the JAWS for Windows scripting program? If not, who's responsibility is it to make this app accessible, Amazon's as the app developer or Apple as the screenreader developer. In the meantime is there a good way to read large books on mac including Kindle and PDF?

I normally wouldn't post this here as it really isn't a Mac game as such, but a massive multiplayer singleplayer game that can be played online. Jick and Co. have been constantly updating this game since 2003, and they've always kept the game accessible. The story-driven based word game they developed for iOS, WordRealms, sadly is not accessible and probably can't be made accessible.

I'm trying to figure out how many instances of the searched text were replaced in a Pages document when using Replace all. I know it's displayed visually at the right side of the "Replace with" textbox but I can't find a way to have VoiceOver read the number of replacements. Has anybody managed to do that?

Hi all,I just got a mac for college and I was wondering if I would be able to put kurzweil on my mac for my textbooks. If not, does anyone have any viable options?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am both Jaws and Voiceover user. I have noticed that on the Mac, when I type text in Word or Pages or try and navigate ie position the cursor or read back words, the reading back of the letters is slower compared to when I type and navigate using Jaws on Windows.
I am a fast touch typer and on Windows and JAWS when I type, the characters are read back immediately, with the Mac there is almost a delay. I have used both a Magic Mac keyboard on the Mac and a wired keyboard (but both have the issue).

I just retired my 2015 MacBook Pro, after 10 years, due to serious battery issues, and just bought a 2026 M5 MacBook Air, so I just transitioned straight from Big Sir to Tahoe. Running under Big Sir, I was stuck at Numbers version 12. When I got my new MacBook, it had Numbers version 14 installed and I updated to version 15. In both versions 14 and 15, when editing large Numbers files, when I enter data into a cell, I will often get "Numbers not responding" for a few seconds, before the data actually begins to appear in the cell.

One of the things I was super excited to see in High Sierra was support for navigating by HTML5 articles. I don't know how many people utilize these as a navigational point, but on Windows this can be a very handy method for navigating sites with feeds. I have been making this a personal crusade lately, submitting bug reports for screen readers that are not properly handling them. Apple dodged the major issue, that of whether to lump articles in with ARIA landmarks. Unfortunately, the feature is not working for me, at least not as expected.
