I decided to set up my new Mac book pro 2016 as a clean install, which means I have been busy setting up my keyboard remapping and commander. I thought I would take this opportunity to run through all of the custom things I have set up, in order to share my experiences, and invite others to do the same.

I'm going to be talking about remapping the keyboard, the voice over keyboard commander, and custom system keyboard short cuts; each of these topics have unique factors to consider, and I'll do my best to explain these factors as I touch each section.

Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce that Letteronic 1.5 is now available on the App Store.

For those who haven't tried it yet, Letteronic is an accessible word game designed to be fully playable with VoiceOver. The goal is to form words using the available letters and put your vocabulary to the test while trying to achieve the highest score possible.

The game has more features for accessibility: textured colors, voice description, etc.

Hi, recently LibreOffice has gained some accessibility in terms of bug fixes. However, if I check out the latest test build 4.1.2 and run it with VO enabled, LibreOffice crashes on startup or at least after some arbitrary editing actions. It does so with both, writer and calc. Can anyone confirm this problem - or is someone using LO successfully with VO? If I am not the only one I would file a bug report for LO 4.1 about this. /Roland

High, the description on audio game hub says that you can play the audio game hub on your smart phone, tablet or computer. Please can you provide a link to the mac version or is it just for iOS and windows?

Hello everybody. I need an advise and I hope someone here has one for me. :)

I find the use of LinkedIn with safari on my Mac very frustrating. Pop-up menus opens all the time and removes my voiceover focus. An example: When I try to read a message on LinkedIn and navigate from the typing area to the message area voiceover jumps to the sender and opens a pop-up where I can see the senders name, position etc. I can't read the message. I can't force voiceover focus away from the pop-up window.

Hi everyone. Has anybody had any luck using the LinkedIn website on a Mac computer? I was recently asked by some people at my volunteer job to check out the website, because we're apparently going to start using it more. Our founder has an account but it's not been too active and we want to change that. I've been checking out the website and it looks pretty accessible with VoiceOver in both Chrome and Safari, but confusing in some areas. For instance, I have an old account on there that I want to remove, because it is pretty outdated.

Hi all,

When I'm trying to work with linkedin website it seems to have an annoying accessibility bug issue. It's just stuck on a menu and doesn't get out of it. Does anyone have this issue? Does anyone have any solution to this bug?

Thanks

Elad

Hello all:
the subject says it all.

sometimes and for unknown reason, the whatsapp on mac logged out, and i have to relink again to my phone.
Scanning the qr code is really so hard, i got it just one time.
but, is there a better way to do so?
linking with phone number is not available on the mac app,
do not know if this is related to My country or what, but the only solution is scanning the QR,
any help will be highly appreciated

i'm trying to link WhatsApp to the Mac app with their ridiculous and entirely unnecessary 'link a device' function. I get to the part where I need to scan the QR code but cannot seem to get any further. I used to be able to do this in prior versions by pointing the iPHone camera at the Mac screen and the code was recognised but it seems to no-longer be possible. I've scanned with VOCR but there don't appear to be any controls that Voiceover isn't seeing. does anyone have any experience with this or a solution?

Hi,

My college course is coming to an end and I'll be starting a networking and security course at university next, and we will be using Linux quite a lot apparently. I'm not sure of anything specific we'll be using yet, but I'm just trying to at least get to know the basics of Linux as I've never used it before.

Does anyone know how to open a List box pop-up pop-up menu. This is a drop-down menu where you type in some value & a load of options (versions of what you typed) open up: typically a search box. Visually there's a little arrow next to the edit box, & a sighted person will just click or hover-over that arrow, then slide down the list to the value they want. Typically this appears in Safari, e.g. in a search on twitter; but I've also seen it as the date picker in Zoom.

Hi! Have a little thing I've been wanting to ask you guys for a while. When I click on e.g. a MP3-file on a website in Safari, it starts to download the file instead of just streaming it like I want. Let's say I want to listen to a podcast here on the AppleVis site.

Hi, for those that have time it would be nice if people could create entries in the mac app directory to show all the accessible apps. Thanks.

Hey everyone.

For those of you who live stream, how do you read chats etc, or know if for example, your stream glitches out and you go offline?
For context, I'm streaming on twitch on mac, via obs as i'm streaming games and I do need video or the gameplay to show on screen. Thing is, on windows, there is an app called firebot, which reads you stuff out loud as far as chat etc, but what is equivalent on the mac to do this? Also, is there any way to set up notifications to let you know if your stream glitches out and is no longer live?
Thanks for any help.

Post Date:

Hi all.

What accessible streaming app for macOS can you suggest? I have tried OBS, and even was able to start and then finish a short stream, but all that was done only with sighting help. I cannot create a scene on my own, can't work with the settings menu because of unsigned buttons, et cetera. Are there any OBS alternatives which are fully or at least mostly compatible with VoiceOver? I'm ready to consider even paid ones.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has discovered how to sink ringtones to the phone with the new Mac OS? I've bin looking in my apps and I don't see anything since iTunes is gone. I also plugged in my phone to the Mac and nothing came up. Which brings me to the next question of, how do we backup our phones to the computer?

Hi there,
While I was using my Mac air I realized that VO has some rudimentary understanding of the ways to pronounce letters of non-European languages.
Among those pronunciations, I found even Sinhala which is the national language of Sri Lanka, (some call it Sinhalese)
So I was wondering that if the voice of Alex in particular could articulate certain letters of the aforesaid language, wouldn't there be a possibility for me to get it to read the content in Sinhala / Sinhalese coherently as well.
