Hello all:

I recently bought the Mac Book Pro a few weeks back but the going has been a little tough on trying to understand the voice over functions.

I use JAWS on my windows machine and use the native iOS voice over for my phone. A few years back I learnt the JAWS commands from a tutor and am looking forward for someone to help me learn and shorten the learning curve.

Would be great if anyone can point me to tutors in Bangalore.

Hello,

in macOS, using a MacBook with Touch Bar, one can simulate the press of the missing physical function keys (F1 through F12) by pressing Fn + key in the number keys row. I wonder whether this alternative way of pressing the function keys works in in Windows installed via Boot Camp.

Since there is no screen reader support for the Touch Bar in Windows via Boot Camp, whether the Fn + number keys work as function keys or not is an important thing to decide if one should go for a MacBook with Touch Bar.

I use MBP 2013 late, macOS 10.12.1 now.
I've used speech in preview app when I read PDF files on my work place. Then, since I upgraded macOS 10.12, got a problem.
It's that don't read focused page. It read from beginning to end.
It's really really make me crazzy to work.

Is there anyone like me? I wanna know how to solve it. I said this problem to Apple before upgraded 10.12.1. but it is same.

I wanna know how to read each page of PDF file using Speech on preview app.

I currently have a macOS 13 point something public beta on my Mac default Drive. I will keep that, but I just want to update that one

After purchasing a new MacBook Air M2, I find myself struggling with the latest version of MACOS (Version 14.2.1). When using the built-in notes app, especially in a list. Voiceover does not navigate lines or list items properly, often times reading previous lines, and partial of the next line.

I must admit that I am very new to using voiceover as I only lost my sight a few months ago. And as a Network / Software engineer I am struggling with this , such a basic task.

With the new release of macOS 14.3, I have noticed significant freezing while using VoiceOver, especially when editing text. Has anybody else experienced this particular issue, and have you found a resolution?

I have experienced it both on a M1, max, MacBook Pro, as well as a M2 MacBook Air

I am using a macbook air m3 from 2024 with macos 15.3 currently. Since a week or so i have the problem that all browsers i have installed suddenly tend to open websites in mobile mode. The weird thing really is that this happens both in brave and safarie. I have no idea what is causing this and it is really anoying. I am using the macbook air standard display and have not changed any window settings, at least not on purpose.

Any idea what could be causing this would be apreciated.

I hope I am doing this correctly. I want to know how can I delete or remove items in safari favourites bar. I have a Mac book pro with MacOS catalina on it, but I cannot remove items in safaris favourites bar. I have tried to right click on that item that I want to remove or delete from the favourites bar but it does not want to work. Can someone please assist me with this problem??

I was vaguely aware that Tahoe was the last MacOs that would support Intel based processors. However, what I hadn't realised is that in MacOs 28 the Rosetta compatibility layer for Intel based applications will be removed. This means that any applications that aren't compiled for Apple Silicon will no longer work.

Mac OS high sierra was released a few days ago. However, when I go to the updates section in the app store, it says no updates available. I've no idea why its not showing up. However, it does show up if I go to featured, so is it safe to download it from there? I have a macbook pro mid 2012, is mac OS high sierra still supported on my mac? Thanks for any help.

I just updated my MacBook Pro to iOS High Sierra. When I went in to the voiceover menu to change the speaking rate from slow to high, I move the slider to high but the voice did not change. I have done this multiple times, both using voice over and visually but for some reason the speaking rate never changes. Every time I open the menu the speaking rate slider is set to high but the speaking rate is still technically at slow. I would like to change it back to the setting I had it at before the update but it doesn’t seem to want to save. Is there any way to fix this?

There appears to be a bug in High Sierra which impedes moving songs around in playlists. I attempted to do this the other day in the same way I used to--VO+shift+space to mouse down on the song, same keystroke again to mouse up when I find its position in the playlist. The problem is that when I do this, focus jumps into Finder, and the song is never moved. Is it still possible to move songs around, and if so, how?

Ok, so if you've used siri on big sur on the mac, you'll notice that whenever siri responds, the response will stay on the window, just like in iOS. however, how can I exit said response window easily to get back to what I was doing? i've tried pressing escape, command w, two finger scrub on the trackpad... but nothing works. The only way i've found to exit the siri response prompt is to press the close, button, which is hard to find. Is there a easier way of doing this? Or having siri work more like in iOS?

Iam learning by reading Apple help.

I have a problem using messages app. If I select some conversation that I wish to replay. I write a message but there is no send button. Only button that VoiceOver reads is Send Audio Message and Emoji button.

Strange thing is if i use command+return message is sent with no problems.

Is anyone experiencng any similar issue ?

Hi All. I am hoping a bright VoiceOver expert will tell me how to add and remove what is on my MacOS Ventura quick nav rotor? For example, at present "form control" is on my quick nav rotor. I would like to remove it from the rotor. also for example, I would like to add "row" to my quick nav rotor to be able to navigate vertically inside a single column in a table. How do I add "row" to my quick nav rotor? I've search all over.

This script allows you to perform a function known as "invert selection"/ If you have used Total Commander on MS Windows you might know this extremely useful function. Unfortunately on MacOS, such a function is not accessible or at least I have no idea how to perform it in Finder. Hence this script was born. It is not optimized, I haven't tested it in huge folders like 1000 elements, however there should be no problem.

I updated my iPad and found it to run a little slower and having harder accessibillity interaction when navagating alone and using VO. Should I update my Mac or wait? What are the perks and bugs? Hi everyone I hope you had a good Christmas and happy New Year :-) on macOS Ventura at the login screen and on the screen of the recovery petition there is a US female voice which is used to navigate both login screen and recovery petition. Does anybody know what this female voice is called please? And can I get this female voice on Monterey? Hi! Does anyone have any tips for using Google Sheets with VoiceOver in MacOS? I'm working with VoiceOver more and more as my vision continues to get worse, and while I've been making great progress, I find Google Sheets almost unusable. I've enabled the screen reader support and have been able to, ever so carefully, make minor edits to documents, but I just can't seem to get things like navigation to work consistently. I'm hoping that I just don't know what I'm doing and someone will have some insight that will really help.
