Mac
There is currently no truly effective book reading solution available for Mac users. Whether reading for academic purposes or leisure, readers often require features such as highlighting, bookmarking, word lookup, and copying selected text. Unfortunately, most Mac-based book reading apps fall short in these essential areas.
Hi,
I was wondering if any one here has used open core legacy patcher?
I have a 2011 iMac with 500 GB of storage and 16GB of ram, and it can only get macOS 10.13.6, and I want to upgrade it to something higher, because I know it can take it on.
I also can't do work on it because it is too old to get pages and the rest of the iWork apps.
Hi, I would like some help from you because I don't know how to make voiceover to show on top of the screen the app in which it is in fact reading.
I have found, as I have some sight, that voice over is reading a window that in fact it is not showing on screen.
Also I would like to know how to look for information windows, such as calendar notices or error windows that I find only when I'm seeing my screen and I find that there is something in the middle of my desktop.
Hope I have been clear.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
How do I open .msg files on the Mac? I received a collection of these files on a flash drive when I went to a conference. From my research, these files are generated from Outlook. I tried TNEF's Enough, but that didn't retrieve any usable data. What program can I install on my Mac to view these files? Please don't tell me to install Outlook. I don't like Microsoft Office and don't want to waste gigs of disk space.
Hi all. Years ago, I was able to assign the bookmarks I have to the numbers so I can push command option one I'd go to bank of America for instance. My bookmark for the local braille library where i order books is in my bookmarks list, but not accessible from the row. Considering it's a pain in the ass to type the URL, does anyone know how to do this? Let me know. Now off to email the library to get my password. all recovery emails don't work. Thanks technology... :)
I'm very frustrated. How do you open a document in pages that has already been created? This one started life as a Word file. Does that make a difference? Also, why can't I find a decent tutorial on Pages? Help.
Hello there, wondering if anyone could put me right please (admittedly i've a funny feeling i'm missing something stupidly obvious here so do bear with). I'm trying to open and listen to an MP3 audio file, however when i try to open it either by pressing command O once focused or via the context menu (VO shift M followed by VO space on the "open" option, voiceover just constantly tells me "music is not responding". This has got me baffled in view of the fact that accessing such files in the way described above has always worked fine before.
Hello,
I am currently a Windows user considering making the transition to the mac. However, I have a question before I take the plunge. I have a folder full of MS DOS files that I created years ago. They are stories, essays and letters, and have great sentimental value to me. Will I be able to open these files with my Macintosh, as I currently can with my PC? Or before I get a Mac, Will I have to open each one, and individually save each one as a word document or text file? Any help that you can offer me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
At Apple’s WWDC event in June, our favourite fruit company announced they would be transitioning Macs to run on their own processors which they dubbed Apple Silicon. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this as they moved from Motorola 68k processors to PowerPC and from PowerPC to Intel. In 2015, Apple’s engineers got fed up with Intel’s Skylake chips, so they decided to take their ball and go home to design their own processors. For VoiceOver users, this is a big deal.
Hi,
I'm looking for an app, or a solution, that will allow me to read books or articles that are in document form. For example, I have several books that are in TXT or pages formats. Loading them in Pages or Text edit causes voice over to say "new line" and "return" as well as indicate whenever a word is not spelled correctly when I read from the top. Is the best way to do this to just turn off attribute reading in VO, or is there something easier and more practical.
Thanks.
Hi all.
I'm trying to find out more details about my WiFi connection. Everything talks about option clicking on the status menu, e.g. to get more info. run diagnostics, and so on, like so.
https://osxdaily.com/2017/08/01/check-what-80211-wifi-mode-mac-using/
Can we do that, and if so, how? Or if not, is there an alternative way to get the info? I'm not readily seeing one. All I get from system settings is IP and mac addresses, useful info but not in this case.
Hi all.
This has been bothering me for a long time. When browsing on the Mac with VoiceOver it is reading the element type before the actual text.
In other words, I will hear for example "Heading level one, Welcome to AppleVis".
On other platforms such as windows and even iOS, it will say "Welcome to AppleVis, Heading level one", which is much more efficient.
Evening, all!
In my never-ending quest to learn as much about the Mac as I can before I get my hands on one within the next month or two, I've been trying to do as much research as I can so that the switch can go as seamlessly as possible. I personally don't have an aversion to learning curves, as I transitioned from a Braille Note to a Braille Sense without any formal tutoring--mostly, I just searched through the onboard manual when I needed help.
It seems with the new OS for Mac that developers aren't updating their accessable games. I purchased A Blind Legend from the App store but it no longer works and Dowino is is not responding to my emails or tweets if they are going to fix the 724 error whatever that is. The only Catalina friendly games I can find are Dark Defender, Great Toy Robbery, psychopath, and Silver Dollar Saloon. I do gameplay walk throughs and reviews on my channels but now I have nothing to review or play that is both exciting for me and my audience.
