Mac

So the other day, I stumbled upon this neat little app. It's been designed for sighted people who prefer keeping their hands on the keyboard to increase their productivity. As the subject suggests, it does exactly what VO's item chooser does. As a lot of us who use item chooser know, it can be slow in apps that have a ton of elements and tends to break in weird ways. Unfortunately, when I tried it, it was basically inaccessible.

So I have a shortcut I use with VoiceOver to get full weather forecast for my location. The shortcut does not work except if I switch off the wi-fi then switch it back on. It seems like the shortcut is unable to get my IP address to provide forecast. I am not technically aware of a solution to this, believing there should be one as the shortcut works only immediately after I am back online.
TIA

Hi, all. I'd like to assign a keystroke to the procedure of bringing up the spoken content dialog for adjusting the system voice on apps that use it. Do I use a shortcut or automation? I'm not sure I know where to start or how to find the correct options. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello everyone,

Hi there! 👋
I’ve got a bit of a problem: I just can’t figure out how to add questions so that when someone downloads my shortcut, they can easily fill in certain details. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I’ve seen plenty of shortcuts that I’ve imported myself, where there was a setup process — you’d answer a few questions and the shortcut would configure accordingly.

Hi all,

I want to start producing documents with my mac. What are some common shortcuts for adding headings and formatting to documents using ms word or pages with mac?

THanks!

Hello,
I've been a long time iOS user, but am branching out to Mac OS because I'm using Logic for music production.
As a result of this, I'm trying to use my mac for multiple things. I'm a Windows user, have been since 2000, but I would like to reach the same level of productivity on my mac as my dell PC.
With that said, does anyone have a list of voice over shortcuts specifically for use in Safari? EG Changing tabs, which is CTRL+Tab in windows, but I can't seem to find anything to do the same function here.

I recently downloaded the Facebook app for macOS.it works nice with voiceover but I cannot find how I can use the access keys so as to access Messages notifications etc. I am running Mac OS 14
Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks for your time!

Hello all, so a few days ago I updated to Garageband 10 and purchased the full instrument kit, which is quite awesome. I've started working on some projects but my main problem now are the keystrokes. Apparently they refuse to work, or at least some of them. In the apple website, they list stuff like left arrow to move back, z to go to the start of the project, etc... but none of those seems to work.

Hi all. Here's something curious I noticed. For those with normal function keys, you can press them to raise and lower the volume. with touchbar macs, the keystrokes are, function key plus voice over, and the equals and minus keys respectively. Now, both mac users, try these steps to reproduce this and see what comes of it.

Right now I am a junior in high school. i'll be starting college in 2015. I'm currently using a 64 bit version of windows seven with NVDA. I've been thinking about a mac for college, but I've actually never even seen one before. I can't really get to an apple store to try one out because its too far away. None of my friends have a mac. What do you guys think I should do? If I should switch, when should I get one?

It's been almost two weeks since I asked on this forum whether I should switch to a MacBook after ten years of using Windows, but I'm even more confused. I am a student studying programming, focusing on standard disciplines for this field: advanced mathematics, programming fundamentals, and more.

Hello everyone! I’m considering buying a MacBook, but is it really worth it? I'm currently studying software engineering, and at university, we learn Java, C++, and Python. We also use Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, and Outlook), and for programming, we use Visual Studio. On a Mac, I would need to use Visual Studio Code. Does it work well on MacBooks with VoiceOver? My Windows laptop is old, so I’m looking for a good laptop that performs well.

Hello, I hope you all are doing well.

I know how to use jaws, I just kinda despise it. I might also just not be particularly good at it. I've been familiarizing myself more and more. But I still find it clunky. Maybe this is because I'm just unpractice with it. I find it likes to do nonsensical things at times, and often just drops you into spaces that you can't get out of. As well as just casually skipping over large areas of text or buttons.

I’m currently using the latest version of macOS Sequoia. Are there any new bugs, or have any long-standing issues been resolved? Is there a reason to update or avoid it? VoiceOver has peculiar problems with audio ducking on Sequoia, and it likely existed before as well. For instance, it continues to lower the system audio even when VoiceOver isn’t speaking after reading an alert message, or when I increase the system volume to the maximum, it still reduces other audio when VoiceOver isn’t activly speaking. Has this been fixed? How is web navigation? Curious to hear what y'all think.

Hi folks,
after upgrading to High Sierra, would I need to upgrade to Fusion 10? Currently I have version 8.5.8 installed.
Best regards.

Hi; I accidentally turned on "show status messages" in Safari by pressing an vo keys with another key. I now get a content area that is labeled "status messages", which usually appears empty to the right of the main web content area. Does anyone know how to show and hide this with voiceover. I can't find any option on the Safari tool bar to do this. Thank you.

Hi all,

Does anyone know ow to show the total size of a folder when navigating the size column in the Finder set to list view? I find this really convenient when navigating files as I can move the VO cursor to the size column and quickly move up and down to view the size of items. However, VoiceOver says blank when moving the cursor into the size column of a folder. Is there a way to set this information to appear in the column instead of always having to press command i?

Greetings everyone. I'm just curious if there's a way to have a sound play when shutting down the Mac Book Air, like the chime that plays when starting it up. Neither mine nor my sister's has this, and I just got to thinking it might be useful. We can definitely feel the decrease in temperature, as well as see the screen go dark upon shut-down. But has anybody ever tried to put in a shut-down sound?
