Hello all. I have noticed with the latest version of os10, I have been having an interesting issue with the Trackpad. Whenever I swipe on the thing, it seems to go to random windows. For example, while swiping through headings in Safari, suddenly, I'm on the doc. if I'm swiping around in other apps, I will simply end up in a totally different area than where I should be. I know that this has not been an issue in the past, so I am confused as to why it's happening now. Is it a bug? If it is an actual feature, is there a way to fix it? It's definitely annoying. Thanks.

Greetings

I volunteer at a local community centre where we have a number of regulars who suffer from various degrees of vision impairment. Our current IT suite is based around Windows 7 and we have a couple of machines set up with NVDA, Dolphin and SupaNova. One of our regulars is virtually blind and relies on these programs on his home system (XP) to interact with his computer. Recently, I got myself a Mac mini to replace my rather elderly iMac that had suffered a logic board failure.

Hi,

Has anyone used the Transcribe app from Seventh String Software? It can be used to slow down music and other features to help with learning music. I've just downloaded it and looking around it seems pretty accessible on first glance but at the moment I can't access the help. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this app?

If there is anyone out there who uses Express Scribe or other transcription software I have a quick question. How do you set your options, either in voiceOver or in Express Scribe, so that voiceOver doesn't make it difficult to hear the audio that you are transcribing while you are typing? Thank you in advance for.your help.

Hi all
I need some guidance on how to transfer music from my iTunes library to my iPhone. I last did this probably 5 years ago when I was still using Windows, so I have no idea how it works these days.
Usually I just redownload purchased iTunes music on to my iPhone, but now I want to transfer some music from my Mac which I didn't purchase from iTunes.

I would please like to know if their might be a way to transfer books using a Victor Reader Stream and the Mack. I know for Windows, their was a piece of software called the HumanWare companion. As I understand it from HumanWare, you can not unzip books like you can using the HumanWare Companion software. If I am wrong about this, please might I be pointed in the right direction on this? Was their a HumanWare Companion made for the Mack so that folks that don't have the VRS second generation could still transfer books?

hey all,
Having a very frustrating and aggravating problem with my new iPhone 12.
I have a couple of custom ringtones that I created and I'm trying to send them to my phone.
Of course with the old iTunes, it was a lot easier, you could just put it in the automatically add to iTunes folder and sync it to the phone and you were done.
With Catalina, apparently you have to drag the ringtone into the general area of the iPhone on the side bar but the problem is, the voice-over drag commands do not work here and well, it doesn't really work at all.

Hi, I have a question for you: when transferring data to another Mac—when we’re setting up a new Mac and transferring data to it—are the Terminal settings included in that process? Or do you have to configure everything from scratch?
I've never done this before, and I’ve been wondering about it lately. Of course, I want to clarify that I mean Terminal settings like making sure the Mac doesn’t turn on automatically when you open the lid, and so on. Basically, everything I’ve set through the Terminal—will that be preserved?

Edit: The original post was about macFUSE not compatible as of writing with Tahoe. But although I managed to install macFUSE on my Sequoia partition (from the github download link) and the Humanware software, and everything seems to be okay, after multiple reboots I am unable to see the OSFUSE drive in my sidebar and transfer files onto my display. Using the original cable with dongle didn't help either. Anyn help will be appreciated.
Hi,
This is such a specific issue that I decided to create another thread.

Helo all-
I am assisting a friend to set up his new Mac. he is coming from a 10-6ear-old MacBook Air to a new, shiny apple silicon MacBook Air. (wow) it still works!?)
before we start I have a few technical questions:
*1 can we transfer all his stuff Mac to Mac with a USBc cable? or is there a better way?
*2 he has some custom keystrokes in keyboard commander (I don't use it ). I was wondering if these would be transferred as part of the data migration or should we do it some other way?
Thanks for any help!
Best to all-
Mara.

I'm coming from High Sierra and going to Catalina. My assumption was I would use a USB drive to transfer my iTunes media over, but I'm not sure how to finish this task on the Catalina side. I know all the iTunes media is separate apps now. How do I get my content in the correct spots? As an alternative, is it possible to use my iPhone to transfer everything? Thanks

Hi all those migratory Mac users, I've gotten most things on the Mac set up how I want them; iTunes is causing problems as usual. I have a full copy of my library on my external hard drive, and just want iTunes on the Mac side to recognize it. I get to the "Choose Library," dialog and iTunes says the library file with the .i t l extension is locked. I googled this and found that if I changed some of the folder's attributes, it would work. I did this back on the Windows side, but still no go. Has anyone had this problem before? Thought using my phone would be easier! :)

I just retired my 2015 MacBook Pro, after 10 years, due to serious battery issues, and just bought a 2026 M5 MacBook Air, so I just transitioned straight from Big Sir to Tahoe. I'm having a couple issues and I'm wondering if there are solutions or if I will just have to live with these issues..

I have a question. On Windows, NVDA has an NVDA Translate add-on, which allows you to play games in other languages by using Google translate to translate the text before it reaches your screen reader. Is there an equivalent on macOS?

Hello,
Just wondering if there is anybody here doing translation with Mac on a regular basis. I personally found switching between several documents on my Macbook Pro quite inconvenient, requiring too many keystrokes. I tried Textedit, Pages and MS Word for Mac, but have to return to my Windows laptop to complete my job. So, if there are any translators here, your tips and tricks in accomplishing everyday translation tasks using Mac would be appreciated.
