Hi there. Just after some assistance as a fairly new Mac user please. I've just purchased an external hard drive. I've always been advised by people in the know more than me to format these before using for the first time. How do i go about this using a Mac Book Air (running latest version of Mac OS)? I am only familiar with using windows to do the job, and even then, it just goes to show how long ago it was since i last formatted something - i was using windows XP lol ☺️ thanks in advance for any help.

Any idea how to replace the formatting of all the occurrences of a word in Mac's Pages? I have a world in a bulky document and want to change that word to be italicised.

Hi,
I'm hopeing to find some guidance and help with this. When I open a document using pages or text edit that I know contains a table, it appears that the columns reformat in to standard text and paragraph style and I am unable to tell what is a column and what isn't. I was looking at a document that had a table with multiple columns, and my sighted fiance indicated that when I was reading the document, I was missing a whole row of text. I tried the standard commands for navigating tables, but none of them worked, they only inserted tabs into the document.

Hi all,
For those like me who use vmware fusion, you might have noticed that after starting a virtual machine, you'll sometimes get this,
This virtual machine might have been moved or coppied. Long story short, this happens every time you switch wifi network and start up the vm becuse the identifier or uuid, changes. To fix this, go to the vm press show package contents and open the config file ending in .vmx. Look for uuid. You should see uuid.bios as the first line of this. Before this line add this
uuid.action = "keep"

I'm not sure if anyone's posted about this already but I stumbled upon some keyboard shortcuts to control playback while playing a video on the youtube website. This is using Safari on Mountain Lion with quick Nav off. The voiceover focus has to be inside the webpage. As long as you interact with the html content it should work. J is rewind, K is play/pause, and L is fast forward. These commands don't work during advertisements by the way. I've only tried it with a couple of videos. Can other people try and confirm that it works for them as well?

Hello everyone, today, I was using the foxtubes application on my mac to listen to some youtube videos.
I found a button that was a pop-up button that said relevance. I opened the menu, and chose channel.
then my search results seemed to stick to one channel of in the table.
I went to resort it again, and can't find the button anywhere.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and it was back on relevance.
my videos weren't displaying like they were when I had it on channel, so I again changed the pop-up button back to channel.

Hi, I would be very interested to know if anyone else has had the following problem and if so, whether a solution has been found. When I change my output audio device to a bluetooth speaker or AirPods and then change back to my laptop's internal speaker, 9 times out of 10, voiceover stops working altogether. Usually there is no audio feedback at all, but sometimes I get the VO audio sounds and no speech. Usually, I have no option but to do a hard reset as I can't even shut down the computer.

Hi all,
I updated my Mac to MacOs 12.3 hoping that universal keyboard access will now be available. No joy, though. The feature is still graded out.
System preferences/accessibility/keyboard/enable full keyboard access DMD checkbox.
Is it working at your end? any suggestions?
Already contacted apple support and am yet to hear from them.

I am new to the mac, and I wanted to learn as much as I can on It. I heard that you could change the function keys, but I dont understand what to do when I turn the keys on. What happens when I change the keys. What actions can I perform whenI turn it on. Thanks.

This has been an issue since it came out, under all 3 version of OS10, and on 3 machines I was able to test it on. The things would get hot on the bottom, and battery would go down quickly. There was no apparent reason for it, would happen at random times when Change Reaction was running. Finally getting curious, I ran activity monitor on the side to see what I could sniff out. What I found is that changereaction.app would use a high percentage of one core, usually to the tune of about 40% or so. This was consistent on all OS10 versions; 10.6 through 10.8, and on 3 mac book pros.

High, I synced three songs from my iPhone and two show up in iTunes but the third one is on my mac but I can't find the third song on my mac. I know the third song is on my mac because I have headphones with an mp3 player built in. when I transferred the two songs over the third song came over as well. any ideas as to why this is happening?

Good morning everyone, As a previous post I sent, I'd purchased a new M4 Mac Mini during the holidays and have come across some new oddities that I'm trying to troubleshoot and thought of asking the group here.
1) While in a Facetime call, when there are several participants, their voices are spread around me, and although this can be useful for some, this annoys the heck out of me.
