Hi all
I am trying this seemingly cool app, it's a PDF editor for OS X hence me writing to this list. Question is how exactly do I use one of these PDF editors? I see no way of inserting text into the document. So do I use an app like TextEdit, copy the text then paste it into the PDF document? Any help greatly appreciated but no mad rush as I'm not committing to a purchase yet. Thought to try it out after hearing good things about it on Mac lists for the visually impaired. Anyway cheers!

Hi, When viewing a PDF file in per-page mode in Mavericks 10.9.1 it looks like scrolling is somehow continuous (and not per page!) when running VO. This means that when using the arrow keys or PgUp and PgDown the bottom of the previous page is visible on the screen as well as the top fragment of the next page. I would expect only one page to be shown and this is exactly what I get with VO turned off. This is the case in full-screen mode as well as in normal mode. Any ideas? /Roland

Hi Apple Vis,
I'm trying to search for an App, or software that would allow me to read PDFs fully. I'm able to read the pDF with the Preview, but not fully and I would need to start over. Which would get kind of frustrating when I'm reading reading assignments for a class.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Chuck

Hello, I am trying to read several pdf's which are scanned versions of documents. Because of the way they are scanned, VoiceOver reacts to them as though they were an image and registers no text to read. I thought I had read once of a pdf reader which could extract the text from image pdf's, but can't seem to find it again. Does anyone know if such a thing exists? Any help would be appreciated, Tangela

Hi,
I've had to do a lot of research for school lately, and most of these research articles are PDFs. When I open the articles I open them in a new window in Safari, and sometimes I am able to read them. Other times, The last thing I can find on my screen is the vertical splitter. All of the other buttons are still there, e.g. new tab minimize and close, but I am unable to find the window to read the PDF. If I turn voiceover off and have a friend click on the PDF, voiceover will then read it but I cannot figure out how to do this myself.
Any suggestions?

Hi: Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion I've noticed some strange behaviour with voiceover and webspots. When I create a new web spot, I can't get to it unless I go to the bottom of the screen and then use find next web spot. When I search from the top, I get the audio feedback indicating nothing is there. This did not happen before upgrading. It also happens with the keyboard command and the gesture which I set for the tracker. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks. I've also noticed that I can't get to the next selection, whether it be link, heading, table, etc with the right arrow keys.

I am requesting a MacBook from my state's vocational rehabilitation agency, and I would like to figure out the minimum specifications I should ask for, in case they would like me to negotiate that or need stronger reasons for a more expensive model. One of the hard requirements for me is being able to run virtual machines well, because there are tasks that I find a lot easier to do on Windows than on MacOS, some applications that only run on Windows, and some applications/websites that are more accessible on Windows than on MacOS. The same thing is true of Linux.

I am running VMware Fusion on a Mac Mini. I am using VMware Fusion to launch Windows 7 and applications such as Microsoft Word. I am using Jaws to access Windows 7. The performance of Windows in general and Jaws in particular is very slow and funky on this installation. Has anyone had good success with VMware on a Mac Mini running Jaws in Windows 7? Do you have any tips for improving the performance? Are there ways of customizing Fusion to improve performance?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hello Everyone.
I really need to work on a very very large table (16471 lines!!!) using Numbers on my Mac and I need to perform a lot of searches to find the rows containing the data I need. But I'm not able to find a way to accomplish this simple task. here what I do:
1. I press the cmd+f shortcut to Open the find window;
2. I enter the string I need to find;
3. I press Enter or I perform a VO+SpaceBar on "Find next" button.

Has anyone tried using a personal voice with VoiceOver on Sequoia?
I was able to get Live Speech feature to speak with a personal voice I trained. However, when I add and select the same personal voice on VoiceOver or Speak Selection feature, it just speaks with Samantha.

Although this petition originates in England I hope that many of you will sign it as it addresses a particularly irksome issue that I am sure that some of you have encountered. I have written Amazon U.S. in the past in the hope of obtaining a genuine response to no avail. If enough people complain loudly and frequently Amazon may hear us and move to do the right thing.The link to the petition:https://www.change.org/p/amazon-make-the-kindle-for-mac-app-accessible-to-voiceover-users

A friend of mine has started a petition asking Valve to make Steam more accessible. For anyone who doesn't know, steam is, "an app store for games". There is a client for Windows, Linux and Mac which is why i'm also posting it here, as there are a few quite playable games on steam that can also be played on the mac, Eg Shank. The mac steam client is completely inaccessible and it's a real shame as there's growing interest with developers to make their desktop games accessible and most choose to publish on Steam.

Hi all,

I have started a petition on change.org, which aims to make the Kindle For Mac app accessible to VO users. It's about time Amazon did something about this baring in mind the popularity of Kindle e-books. The AppleVis community were key in bringing about improvements in the iOS version of the Kindle app a few years ago, so let's do it one more time! Join me in my campaign. Sign and share the petition with everyone you know. The link is:

Heres to hoping improvements will be made soon!
