Hi everyone,
Has anybody used Parallels Desktop 10.2.1 (29006) to create VMs on the latest El Capitan version of the OS?
First of all, is it doable? any problems?
How was the experience? And anything that's worth keeping in mind when setting up a Windows 10 VM on it? (I don't even know whether a windows 10 tech preview could be set up on a VM in it however).
Even if you have created a Windows 8.1 VM on it please do share any tips and tricks with us!

Hello,
I'm a relative newcomer to the Mac, running the m1 chip in particular.
I see that Parallels desktop is the main option at the moment for virtualising windows as well as other operating systems, however it appears to be completely inaccessible.
Have any Voiceover users had luck getting this set up and have any tips for same?

I am writing this through my win11 install. I lost all my respect for VMWare/Broadcom a year ago.
UTM always gave me weird issues and unstabilities. Fusion... Just to get their softwares is a nightmare now.
Parallels? Yes the accessibility could be better, and some initial steps need VOCR. But it's as usable as cisco packet tracer on mac for example, and you'll get the cleanest windows 11 install ever. After first boot idle it's less than 3gb ram with 0 tweak, no microsoft account **so far** :), and honestly, it just works!

Hi all,
As part of my new Mac set up, I am working on getting Windows 11 running via Parallels. I am, however, running into some difficulties. I managed to turn off all shortcuts and set Mac OS commands to always be sent to the VM, but Windows still does not seem to be capturing all keys. Windows M doesn't work at all, and Mac OS still seems to try and take over when I try to navigate menus in Windows. Voice Over also still randomly chimes in with its two cents that I could definitely do without. What further do I need to do to make this work properly?

Hi All,
So I went through the trouble of dealing with broadcom to get copies of VM Workstation for windows, and VM Fusion for mac os. I wanted to know if I have access to both, does parallels give me anything that fusion doesn't? fusion is very accessible, and parallels is not. before I setup a vm in either I just wanted to ask this question.

I am using Mac OS 26, and the latest version of Parallels desktop from the App Store. I got it installed fine, but if I leave the app, or if it has an error and I have to force quit, I have to have sited assistance to get back in.
It makes me hit the play button, and I have to sign in with my apple ID again, and I can't find the play button using VOCR.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what is the fix? Thanks in advance.

As people keep hijacking my carefully crafted guide for installing Parallels, I thought I'd set up this thread to discuss the merits and drawbacks of each of the VM solutions for Mac which allow running Windows. I really only have experience with Parallels, having thought it would give the best performance and integration with my Mac, but, as in many things, I may be wrong.

Hi all. If you're read the previous post, I wasn't sure how to get rid of some files. I've done so, now iwth a small problem. As I had to delete over a thousand files, I knew there'd be one or two I wanted to keep, sure enough, there were a few. Now, is there a keyboard short cut to putting the ones under my arrow key back? I saw command delete, but that didn't do anything. i appreciate any help as not sure I can get some of these back.

Hi all,
As the subject states, I am looking to partition my external so I can use it as a time machine back up. I have a 2 tb hd, and I want to partition 512 gb of it where I can create my time machine back up. I tried to play around with disk utility, but I couldn't figure out how one might go about specifying the partition size and what not.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
Ideally, if someone can provide step by step instructions on how to do this, I'd be much obliged.

I'm about to get my first Mac, I baught a 21.5" iMac 2.9 GHz. I also want to run Windows on it, but don't want to install Windows on the internal 1 TB hard drive, I'm going to install it on a external drive and just boot from the external drive whenever I want to use windows. Now my questions:

All my my media is on an external drive attached to my MBP. I watch the movies and TV shows on the Apple TV 4k in the Computers app.
Prior to Catalina, things were fine (I had the Apple TV 3rd then). But with Catalina and the 4k model, TV episodes are marked as partly played on the Mac even though I viewed the complete episode. This means the next time I watch the TV show, the ATV does not automatically land on the next unwatched episode. If I watch on the Mac, it will then be properly marked as played.

I believe that I have all of the necessary iCloud settings enabled and I am aware that as of a recent update Auto Fill parameters have changed, but I'll be damned if I can get it to work.

am using Column view in finder.
but if i have a folder that contains subfolders, how can i paste a file in my parent one?
for instance, if i have a parent folder named 1, and i have sub folders 2, 3 and 4.
need to paste a file called Unnamed in the parent 1 folder, how can i do this?
when i paste the file it goes inside a sub folder.

I've come across an issue... I've had this issue before in other situations, but right now I'm copying the content of an external hard-drive on to my macs hard-drive, so I can format the external hard-drive without loosing the things I got on it. Anyway, when copying, I would like to be able to check the progress, since it probably is around 400 gB and will probably take a while to finish. When tabing around with VO in the copy window, I find a place that constantly updates how much of the content that has been copied.

Hi everyone. This morning I called and an Apple support technician patiently walked me through the process of creating an Apple ID. That went great. He was very helpful, and my Apple ID was successfully created. However, this afternoon when I went to download and install some software updates that my trainer saw last week on my screen during our session, I signed in with my Apple ID but it wouldn't let me install the updates. So I had a neighbor come over and help me. I turned off Voiceover since he is fully sighted.

Hi all. I lost my password to my original paypal account, created another on. Now i know i set it to my new email but it still thinks I have a comcast address which is dead and gone. Unfortuantely if I click recover password, the fields don't act right, and also the codes won't play if they do i'm luckyto hear them once. Any ideas?
