When pressing VO space on a collapsed disclosure triangle in Finder's info window, Voiceover says, "Collapsing," when it is actually expanding. Similarly, pressing VO space on an expanded disclosure triangle causes Voiceover to say, "Expanding," when it is in fact collapsing. In short, Voiceover states the opposite action of what is really happening with the disclosure triangle.

Hi All,
Can this be a VO bug? When playing a video on YouTube and when full screen mode is on, I try to type in the search field. It simply gives a ding sound and nothing more. Even if I switch off QuickNav, the only thing that works is to switch back to normal screen then interacting as normal with the search field. I understand that toggling full screen mode can change the behaviour of Safari, still I am wondering why not to be able to type in the search filed?

Hi All,
I tried to make the subject be as explicit as possible to help if people didn't want to read this. I just upgraded to Sierra and have noticed that the "in" and "out" of content sound effects have been switched for interaction. The performance is consistent, and VO does what I want it to do, but my brain got used to the sound effects and the level of cognitive distortion is real for now. So, is this a bug or feature, or something specific to my system? If I can confirm it's a bug and not just me, I'll of course report it.

i'm trying to get Voiceover on the Mac to announce the time and date using the same voice as voiceover.
I am using the non compact Karen voice and have gone into the clock pannal of the date and time section, where I have selected the announce time check box.
I download Karen, have tried both the compact and non compact versions. however when hitting the keystroke to announce said time, in this case Option D its still using the default compact Daniel voice.
I have made sure the Karen voice is selected and that it is saved.

Hi all. I don't know if anyone uses the main site to post statuses, but her's the issue. If you hit the letter P it takes you to the edit box, but once there, as you type, you can't go back over if you need to delete a character, with the backspace key. When you're done, you only hear the first letter, so if I wrote update, you'd just hear U. Using the arrow keys works, but if you try to spell check it, safari goes busy, and i end up closing the window.

What's the best way to go about posting to youtube on the mac? What format does the video have to be in? Also, the sound I want to post, it's just audio. I understand there has to be video, I'd like my image to basically be a text file explaining what the audio is, so essentially, what I want is to convert text to image, then put that image onto an audio file to make it youtubable. Is there an accessible way to do this?

Hi everyone. I appoligize if this topic has been posted here before, but I'm thinking of buying a mac to replace my windows desktop that unexpectedly quit working several months ago. Right now I'm using a windows ten laptop running NVDA. The mac I'm interested in is the mac minny. Here are the questions I need answered before I make the hour long trip to the closest apple store to buy one.
1. How easy is the mac to learn for somebody who has used windows?
2. What does the mac minny come with in terms of keyboard, mouse, etc?

It has been a horrible time for the users of this hardware, because apps have been going out.
For example, iTunes ® has stopped allowing PowerPC peeps to run it, and now demands an "Intel" processor! Aint nobody got time for that! What could really be different about iTunes than just the UI? and Skype, another big one!

in iOS when we define a word, we find oxford dictionary translating the word, so which dictionary is used on OS preloaded dictionary
another question, can I use voiceover on this dictionary to read word by word or line by line?, I've listened to the demo by David woodbridge about the dictionary and how to get the meaning of the word, but he didn't mention how to read word by word and so on

In the past, when I've traded up my mac for a new one, I've given my old ones to family. The last time I did it, I feel like it was quite tricky, because she kept getting prompted to sign into my apple ID. So what is the best way in 2023, to transfer a mac to someone? And is there a way to do a clean install of the OS. This is a 2015 macbook, running big sir, I'm not sure it could handle ventura, I feel like I made a mistake installing big sir on it actually, but that's irrelevant.

Hello everyone,
So I'm currently in the process of converting my 5000 or so songs that are on my Apple Music library to AAC so Radiologik can play them. I also have about 20000 tracks that aren't via Apple Music, so have plenty of music.
The sad thing is that blind users at least require iTunes for Radiologik to work properly. I know there are some iTunes duplicates that I wish there was app I could use to clean my library up a bit, but for those that use Radiologik and do internet broadcasting with it, what is the best way to prep a show?

Everytime i plug my iPhone into my iMac, iTunes and Photos both launch on my desktop.
I am fine with iTunes launching when i plug my iPhone in, but does anybody know how i can prevent Photos from launching automatically?

Hello all,
I updated my Mac OS to 10.15 yesterday. Overall, I am quite happy with it.
However, I have noticed that my earlier apple scripts are not working as they should. For instance, I had set up various keyboard strokes through Keyboard commander to perform various tasks, they are not working now.
Whenever I press my key combination to get certain task done, the VO does not perform as it should. I checked to see whether my keyboard commander is turned on, it is. The shortcut/scripts are there, VO even announces them when I check them in Keyboard help.

for those of you who were around in the Dos days, you will probably most likely remember this.
they're used to be an app for the PC called print shop. I don't know how accessible it would have been with a screen reader, as back then, I used the program with ZoomText. basically in a nutshell, provided that you had a printer, which at the time, I did, essentially, it let you create all kinds of really cool things that you could then print out. so for example, you could make posters, signs, banners, provided you had tractor feed paper, calendars, cards, etc.
