I've been experiencing a really annoying VoiceOver problem for a while now, but thought I would try to reproduce it. Basically, it's another example of VoiceOver inventing punctuation that isn't there. Part of the Apple initiative to ensure I never have the faintest idea what code it is I'm looking at.

It is very specific.

VoiceOver must be set to Full Punctuation and Indentation must play a sound, not be spoken.

I couldn’t figure out how to use Photo Booth with VoiceOver. I can take a picture with Command + Return, but I can’t save it to my desktop. I can’t seem to select a picture, as the Export menu item in the File menu appears dimmed. All I wanted to do was capture a photo… By the way, VOCR is a great app, but its camera capture feature doesn’t seem to work—when I take a picture and send it, nothing seems to happen.

PiccyBot is now available for MacOS as well. You can benefit from any existing subscription by using the same Apple account.
This has been a common request, to allow for easy video and image descriptions while on your Mac. I am glad I was able to make it available!
Note this only works on Macs with a M1 or higher processor so far.

You can download PiccyBot for all platforms here: https://piccybot.com

Hi guys! Anyone have any tips on how to pinch open and close on trackpad? When in keyboard help, my gesture reads as adjusting rotor until I magically figure it out. Any suggestions on how I can deliberately make this distinction and perform the gesture properly? Thanks!

As you may already know from the iOS, Piper - Neural TTS provides system wide voices that can be used with operating system accessibility functions like VoiceOver and many apps like Speech Central.

In general it is better used for natural speed reading where you get benefits of more natural human voice prosodies.

As the Mac has much more powerful hardware, latency is significantly smaller and should work well on nearly every Mac for nearly all use cases.

Just ensure to install some voice that provides good balance over quality and performance like Ljspeech - medium.

Hello guys!

I'm a freelancer writer and now, I'm using Mac OS X but I didn't found any plagiarism detector program who works on Mac OS X.

Do you know about some plagiarism detector program that works on MAC and that will be accessible with VoiceOver?

Thank you!

Hi all,
I'd like to broadcast music in skype calls, so that the other hand could hear it, along with what I'm saying on my Mic (I also have a USB microphone).
Is there any way I could do it? I've tried by setting up an aggregate device and using SoundFlower but so far with no luck, and it's very frustrating...
Thanks in advance

Hi all, just a quick question re iTunes and mac. I'm just wondering how to forward/rewind a song/movie/tv show while it is playing. I can seem to jump to the next track, but not change the position of the currently playing track. I can't seem to find this information anywhere on Google. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks :)

Hi there. I've had my Mac for quite some time, but still can't figure this one out. Whenever I load a media file into Safari, such as a podcast, I can't move around it gracefully if I need to seek somewhere. The "back 30 seconds" and the pause buttons work ok, but could someone please explain the timeline sliders? I think one is a slider and another is just the text of the elapsed time. When I try to interact with the slider and change it, it won't jump ahead very far. To find my place in a podcast is almost impossible. How do you guys do it? Thanks!

Good day. If there are any keynote users I'd like to understand the following. What actually happens when a presentation is played in Keynote and how should voiceOVer react? I have a power point presentation that was given to me and I press command-option-P to play it. Now, I can go through the slides manuaaly and thought that if a presentation is playing the slides would change at a particular speed. However, voiceover seemed to stay on the same slide. I'd appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks.

Hello all,
I'm starting a podcast soon and I am wanting to be able to play audio clips such as audio clips from the news. I am really wanting to be able to do this in real time if possible. I am using a eight channel interface along with ProTools for the Mac. I also have a Windows machine with sonar installed on it.

Hello, all. I need to play audio in talking communities chat rooms with my mic muted. (in short, to accomplish what windows user call stereo mix) I have been informed that either Audio hijack pro or Sound flower will accomplish this but I am unclear which one will. How do I use sound flower correctly so as to avoid losing speech when playing the music? Also, is it possible to record talking communities conferrences with audio hijack or sound flower? Thanks and have a great day.

I'm fortunate to have good vision but hundreds (thousands?) of hours listening to podcasts and audiobooks have sped up my ears. Now I listen to audiobooks and podcasts at 2x speed. Sometimes I'd prefer something a little bit quicker, sometimes a little bit slower. iTunes apparently gives no control over playback speed so I use QuickTime player which does. Its still a bit awkward, there must be a better way. Do you know of specific apps that provide good control over playback speed? I'm interested in OS X and iOS recommendations. thanks matt

Anybody doing this? I'm listening to Liam's marathon, and he's playing it on Windows, but the mod mentioned keys for playing on Mac. Looking in the app store I see something from Apple Arcade called Balatro Plus for free. No idea if that's what I'd want or not, if I have to pay for it later because it's a trial, if I need mods, and so on and so on.

Hi all. Subject line pretty much sums it up. A sighted neighbor would like to start playing chess with me, or so he says. I've briefly checked out the chess app that is included on my Mac and it seems pretty accessible. But for those of you who play the game, is this a viable enough way to learn it or would I be better off with a website such as Lichess? He recommends that one and it seems to be a bit cluttered but pretty VoiceOver friendly.

Hi,

I'm trying to set up crazy party on with wine. Does anyone know how to do it with out voiceover and how to get the tts to install to the game? Will their be other things I'll need to get it running?

Hey all.

Anybody using this thing? I've installed it, I have it pointed at a ton of music. I can't get it to play, output is set correctly, and there appear to be no keyboard shortcuts and no place to set them. I've tried going into the table of music and picking "all music",, I've tried focusing on a specific song and telling it to play from the menu, nothing gets me music.

Hi,
I found a treasure trove of videos on archive.org containing one of my favorite newspeople, they don't have the download box associated with them, which is understandable. Is there an app made to download videos from archive.org? If not, how can I play the video in safari on the mac? It's hit or miss, but sometimes it will play a 1 minute clip of the video, then stop, other times when I click another clip, it either won't play or plays just a tiny snipit. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm using mac OS 10.15 catalina.
