For me, Big Sur introduced a dramatic change in VoiceOver pronunciation. Has anyone else experienced either of the following?

This post is asking about the word spelled S-C-H-E-D. It is a common American English shorthand for the word schedule.

I recently noticed that S-C-H-E-D has a huge pronunciation issue on current Mac OS. It should be pronounced sked. Instead it sounds more like a multi-syllable indecipherable whisper: sched. I've verified the issue with both Alex and Alison.

Yes, I know I can set the pronunciation using VO Utility. But the pronunciation is so aberrant that I wondered if this was an indication of a larger issue. Thoughts? What's going on here?

So I finally got my new MacBook Pro and let me just first say that, dang this thing is thin. I spent several hours, first completing the initial setup and now occasionally playing around with it and figuring things out. My question is this, does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality sleeve or pouch I could place my MacBook in everytime I travel? My backpack has a built-in compartment but I would still feel more comfortable placing my MacBook in a sleeve to protect it even more.

I am about to bite the bullet and buy a Mac Mini. Is Protools Express accessible with VO? I can't afford the full version right now, especially with having to buy the Mini. At least, I won't have to buy a Jaws upgrade, too! Will 4 gigs of Ram be enough to run Protools Express? ...if anyone uses it. Also, is Garage Band accessible?

Hello Applevis,
Does anyone have any suggestions on any third party instrument plug ins for rotors. As someone who enjoys making beats. It does get kind of boring with the same sounds.
Thanks in advance.

Be careful when opening HTML files as text in text edit.
I was working on a document, and I accidentally did that. Take this html text for example:

<p>This is a paragraph.
<br>
That is a line break</p>
<h1>This is a heading</h1>
<ul><li>This is a list</li></ul>

Text edit turned that, into this:

At least three of us on here have purchased m4 Mac Minis, but I haven't seen this mentioned. Those considering one ought to be forewarned that Hey Siri only works on internal microphones, so a USB external mic plugged into a Mac Mini won't listen for hey siri. I should have known this, since I also couldn't use an external mic for Siri on my Macbook Air. Their justification in the past has had something to do with privacy and security, which seems thin to me: a microphone is a microphone. I also tried plugging in my iPhone and setting it as the input device.

does any one know if you can purchase ring tones in the newest Mac update?

Hello, I am wanting to put some DVDs into iTunes then I can transfer them onto my iPod so I can watch them while on holiday later next month. Does anyone know of an accessible way to do this on the Mac? I've looked around for a few ways the sightred do it, and have found various ways so wanted to check here and see if anyone knows of an accessible way that works with VO. A couple of things to point out.

Hello. My name is Jane. I've been a Mac user since October 2013. I have been a windows user for years. Eversence I've switched to the mac, I been wanting to put windows on it. I understand the vmWare fusion is an accessible way to put windows virtually. Are their other accessible programs out their to make this possible? I don't like windows 8 much. I'm also looking for a windows 7 ultimate and office online.

Hi all.

PySolFC, a collection of solitaire games, including not just card games but things like mahjong, is accessible, more or less. I thought about posting it to the app directory, but I've got a few questions that somebody can hopefully help answer. Here's the home page with docs and downloads.

Hello,

In windows we have the sistray concept.

When an application is minimized to the sistem tray, it keeps running but its windows won't be accessed in the alt tab cycle.

In fact, it is running on background. When you need to bring the application to the front, you go to the system tray and activate its icon and then it's ready.

For apps like mail or skype this is wounderful because you need those running but you don't need their main window bothering you when you're cycling to first plan apps.

Hi! I've tried to contact the devs of QCast and QFeed to tell them, that their diskimages don't work on Mavericks... Or at least not on my machine. Sadly I've got no response ever since I contacted them earlier this year. Have any of you tried their apps on the Mac and perhaps got it to work? I really like their projects, but I don't feel confident buying software from people I can't get in touch with, when I am trying to submit a bug repport. :-( Thanks in advance for any reply Thomas

I am attempting to use this app, which is great for people like me, who do not know how to point an iPhone camera to a mac screen. the app does not seem to work as expected. . it says, QR Code updated, so i keep holding my phone to the screen. then after that, it says, QR code gone. if you linked Whatsapp with your phone, you are done. which window should I have in focus. Whatsapp, or QR Magnifier?

US Siri voices have been updated in the latest iOS 17, now they are much smaller and they are expressive and joy to listen to. The strange thing that these voices are not yet available to MacOS, so my iPad 9 which has very humble processor compared to my M1 Mac, has these voices while my Mac does not. Is there anything I can do to get these voices on my Mac? I deleted the voices and redownloaded them, they are still big in size and quite robotic.

So I updated to Ventura today, and I can confirm that the quality of Siri voices have declined with this release. I feel like that voices are less expressive in this release, so anyone has noticed this? I enjoyed reading using the Siri voices and now I regret I updated.

Hi all. I first decided to look at quenton C's playroom, after a podcast using the web client on the IOS side of things was done on blind cool tech. Has anyone tried doing this with the Mac? I have already found it a bit difficult navigating around, but it's managable. However when playing Poker, you can't raise a bet, as it says "undefined error independent defined." or something like that. I went to the forums to try to suggest it be fixed, shock of shocks, I'm unable to post a topic. I don't know why.

Hi. I'm trying to switch to mac for the second time. The first attempt was failed 2years ago and trying again in these days with macos15.8 on macbook2019pro (coming from windows).
I am looking for a reliable way to copy desire text from a webpage (specially while retaining the formatting). In JAWS for windows, the selection coppies the text along with it's formatting so we can paste it without re-formatting the text inside word (or any other word processor).
How to achieve the same in mac?
