I hope this email finds you well, I'm wondering if anyone could please tell me how to do a search for a particular section or word in a file that's open in Text Edit.
I've tried VO F and Command F and I can't work it out.
Would someone also please explain to me how to move between next and previous search results when I've found something? I'm so sorry for asking relatively basic questions, as stated previously, I've only just got this Mac and I'm very new to it.

Hi, just a quick question that should be easy for someone to help me with. I've only just got my new Mac and I can't remember how to turn off column preview in tables. It's driving me crazy especially in Finder.
When I looked for the post all I found was one that was talking about autoscrolling.
What I 've tried:
VO utility, then go to to navigation but that was suggested by Google AI.
Does anyone have any ideas?
For the record it's a 2020 Macbook Air with M1 chip.

I was rear ended several years ago and now I have very light sensitive eyes and brain damage. White backgrounds are extremely difficult for me to read. Using the invert colors is an option but it is also a pain because not everything looks great inverted and some sites and apps don't need it at all. I love the notes app and use it every day. That white background and yellow hyperlinking makes reading and understanding anything exponentially harder. Not to mention, it is environmentally friendly to have a darker themed background.

Hello all, I have a question. I have a macbook air, 13 inch, 2017, which does not require a bootible usb drive to install windows. I am able to complete the beginning stepps with setting up the bootcamp partition with bootcamp assistant, because voiceover works during that part of bootcamp setup. But once that part is done and the computer restarts into the windows installer, their is no sound.

I have a new MacBook pro 2017 OSX High Sierra and want to set up the battery status apple script commander.
I have seen the one crested by Bryan Smart however I Ama unsure if this will still work with the new software as the script was created a while back?
Also I am wondering if there would be another way to have a shortcut for the battery status ? I have the touchbar MacBook so I am wondering if there would be any commander I could add for a batery and power status to the touchbar?

Hi all. so, I'm thinking about duing bootcamp to my mac. Probably stupid, but I want to play more games, and i don't have a windows pc. So, if I where to bootcamp my mac, would this cause any problems? I mean, some people have told me that it might shorten the life expectency of my mac, or cause other problems. My mac is a macbook pro with 8 gb of ram, and I have about 400 and something of free space on the disk. If I bootcamp my mac, will it slow performance or cause any other issues? thanks for any help.

Hello all,
My Mac has been stuck on the same screen now for an hour. It says setting up mac. There is a progress bar, or at least thats what voiceover calls it. It says checklist showing steps to complete 16.7%. I had my son look at the screen and there is no movement on the progress bar at all. How long should this take to finish the update? Is there something I can do or do I just need to wait it out?

I am attempting to write some papers for school in Pages. How can I make sure that the first line of each paragraph is indented by 0.5 inches? I went to layout in the format inspector and typed in 0.5 for first. When I press VO F4 F4, VoiceOver announces that the cursor is 0.39 inches from the right. With Jaws, it is possible to hear the cursor position from the left. Are there any VoiceOver commands to hear cursor position? Specifically, is there a way to have VoiceOver announce cursor position that takes into account page margins?

Hey guys.
So I'm taking a college level algebra class this summer, and wanted to get some opinions about how people who have taken math courses have completed their homework. I am thinking of using my mac for this. Has anyone used a mac to do math homework? I have seen the word LaTex come up in another forum topic. Is this a math program? While I do know braille and nemeth code, the only access I have to braille is my tiny little braille sense u2 mini from Hims. I am thinking this is not a viable solution because you can only write one line of braille at a time.

I recently, as in just last night, started using the Duck Duck Go web browser for Mac.
Over all, I like the experience, though I did manage to lock it up completely once. That, however, is not why I'm writing this post.
When I press CMD L for the location box, as soon as I start typing, autocomplete suggestions pop up in a dialog and I can't seem to continue typing. I must hit escape, then type a character, hit escape, type another character, etc.

I started to tinker with emacs by reading its documentation and notice somthing very obvious, macos keystrokes are derived from those of emacs. I just have a question. If we take into account the existence of the option key commander with voiceover, and macbooks having one key control at the left, for those who use emacs on similar keyboards, did you modify any of the key to have two controls like replacing the right command key with right control? Or any other tip you might give me...

I am trying to get 1Password up and running, and there is a place where I am supposed to enter my email address. I press control-space to enable editing, but when I type characters of my email address, all I hear is that drum-sound. I use the left- and right-arrows to see if the characters have been entered, and none are spoken.

Hi all. I have a question on reading iBooks on mac. So, in the iOS iBooks app, if i flick two fingers down, vo starts reading, lets say I start reading a book on chapter 1, and it will read until say, chapter 5, because i stopped there. However, on mac, if I flick two fingers down on the trackpad, vo starts reading on chapter, 1, but once it gets to chapter 2, vo stops on its own, it only reads chapter 1 Is there something I can do to make vo read none stop until i stop it like on the iPhone, and not stop every chapter, because its very annoying.
