When I receive an email newsletter with unlabeled images, VoiceOver often reads the image file name, which frequently uses a GUID. That means it says something like the following.

I would like to turn this off, and instead have VoiceOver simply announce, "image." Does anyone know a setting to control this?
I'm finding that quite often both Mail and Safari on my Mac (latest Monterey) will keep telling me where the insertion point is as I'm trying to read something.
Hi all!
I recently started using discord fairly regularly. Aside from its usual accessibility issues, I've now joined a server which uses emojis for all of its channel names in addition to text.
I want to create a voiceover activity for discord, and I am comfortable doing that itself. However, I don't see any settings in the voiceover utility to make voiceover just ignore emojis. Does this not exist on the mac? Is it called something weird? Am I just missing it?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I like using downcast to listen to podcasts on my Mac.
I have never deliberately opened the native Podcasts app but it keeps popping up, seemingly at random times, and I can't work out what it's doing or what it wants from me. How can I stop that happening? I wonder if I need to choose some preferences somewhere to stop the native podcast app being default for anything.
I tried looking in the preferences in the Podcasts app but there doesn't seem to be very much there and nothing seems relevant.
I've had this crazy issue for several weeks now after doing a clean install of Yosemite from Mavericks. I hoped it would just go away like a lot of Mac quirks seem to do after an upgrade but no.
I notice it mostly when I type a tweet in YoruFukurou. I'll do command n for new tweet and start typing and VO says, "apple, submenu" over and over as I type so that I can't hear my keyboard echo. I have to command F5 toggle to make it stop.
Hi all. I can't figure out why this happens, here goes. If i'm on the main youtube site, i click on a channel name, say applevis. As soon as I do, I hear Subscribe spoken over and over, could be ten times in a row, could be maybe two. Has anyone else had this happen? i can't do anything until Voice over finally stops talking so I can bring up headings list etc. Thanks for any help.
Hello everyone, Iβm not sure if anyone else has been having this issue, but recently, Microsoft Word hasnβt been too friendly with me. Whenever I type into a document, there is no feedback whatsoever, and whenever I open old documents, voiceover does not recognize any of the text, and says that the content is empty. Itβs strange because I could still select and paste the text, but in Microsoft Word itβs not readable. Iβm not sure why or how this issue started, but I tried resetting and shutting down my Mac multiple times now with the same results.
Hi,
For some time now, I have the following problem when I open YouTube in Safari on the Mac: Every time I open YouTube in Safari, I have to click on the "Sign In" link first so that I can access my account again. The "Keep me signed in" feature is enabled. Also, I don't have to enter a password even after clicking Sign In, but I always have to click Sign In again every time I restart the Safari browser. Does anyone else have this problem?
When selecting text alignment, either with the Format menu or shortcut keys, TextEdit mixes up the Centre and Right alignments. When I press Cmd |, VO announces Centre checked, but when I check the text attributes with VO T, VO announces that it is right aligned. Similarly, when I select right alignment, either with the shortcut key or the Format menu, VO T will announce aligned centre.
Not a big problem when you realize what is happening. However, I am totally blind and don't know if the text is actually aligned right or centre.

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well and staying safe. I'm running the latest version of macOS Ventura and I'm running the latest version of GoodTask for macOS. When I go to add a calendar event, everything goes well, until I get to the date and time selection area. The date selection area comes up as a pop over to VoiceOver. I am able to select the date and time perfectly fine, however, when I press escape to close the popover as VoiceOver instructs however, when I do this, the whole dialogue to add an event completely closes. Is there a workaround for this?
Good morning,
I apologize if this thread is in the wrong forum category.
Let me preface this by saying I love my early 2014 model MacBook Air. It has seen me through my first successful year of college without any crashes, and I hope it holds up for the next few years as I make my way toward a bachelor degree in early childhood education.
Hello all,
I have been encountering a strange issue when doing google searches in safari on my mac. I am running macOS catalina 10.15.3. After doing the search I move to each result using headings. For some reason when I do this instead of reading me the heading it reads me the actual web address. It is only doing this on my mac in google searches. Headings work just fine in other websites. Also this does not happen on my windows machine. Anyone else seeing this?
For those of you using a Zoom H1, I have an issue. After updating to El Capitan, I'm having weird issues when using my H1 as a microphone/audio output device. The audio input is high pitched and the audio output sounds very distorted and fuzzy. I don't know how to describe it. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is this a glitch with USB audio in El Capitan? Can I do anything besides downgrading to Yosemite?
When I enter a text box and fill it in, and leave that field and go to the next text field, the keyboard cursor doesn't track with the VoiceOver cursor. In other words, I typed in the subject of this particular topic, went to the message field and attempted to type, but even though VO said I was in the correct text field, the keyboard cursor was still in the subject edit box. As you can imagine, it is extremely difficult to type in passwords. Also, before I type in text, I have to press VO-space. Is this normal behavior?
