I'm really hoping you'll instantly tell me about your favorite third party email app for MacOS. Why?
Today, my computer tech told me that the native Apple mail app on my Mac Studio Ventura has developed a problem that is so severe, he thinks I should erase everything off my hard drive and start over from scratch, or, install a third party mail app and use it instead. Hence, this desperate post.
I have 4 mail accounts, two for a local email provider, plus one each with icloud and gmail.
Hello,
I am a software engineer working at a private company that requires me to use a MacBook.
While I have over 15 years of experience with Windows, I am relatively new to macOS, having used it for about eight months.
Currently, I am running macOS 14.4 and considering an upgrade since I heard that macOS Sequoia has fixed a major accessibility issue for me—specifically, in macOS 14, the Vocalizer voice cannot properly read words written in mixed case.
It's under web the category in the VO commands help menu (vo-h-h). I tried it in various contexts on the web and pdf but haven't found yet what it's suppose to do.
Or is it broken like these two other scripts fast forward and rewind which apparently are supposed to work during read all to navigate quickly in either direction but literally doesn't do anything in fact?
Granted I could use TurnOver, but I'm now getting the Safari not responding message a lot more on macOS 27.2 on my M1 MacBook Air. It's legitimately struggling. So does anyone know of any accessible, but extremely lightweight web browsers? I literally want the basics. Just easily just search up everything. I mean, I could possibly make my own, but I'm not sure. I don't really care for bookmarks or looking at my history. Same for passwords, exporting or saving webpages.
A colleague sent me 2 PDF files; on a windows computer with Acrobat, they open fine and JAWS reads them well. On her Mac, she cannot read them with VoiceOver. On Windows, there are settings I had to change to make Acrobat work well, including turning something off in security. It had something to do with startup, but I can't find the name of the setting now. Does the Mac contain this setting; if not, are there any other things to fix? We have already worked with the accessibility settings but could revisit them if there is even a chance we missed something important.
Hi.
I've read about all bugs that are in the new osx versions.
So I decide to not upgrade from montain lion.
When I have posted to other places, they say that the bugs doesn't exist any more.
How is this?
Are all bugs that I read on applevis.com for real now or not?
It would be nice to know how it is.
/Kristoffer
I'm just tightening down TurnOver and would like the community's feedback on apps you most struggle with on Mac when using VoiceOver. There are some apps that work well with voiceover, of course... But I'm interested in the ones you wish were easier to use.
I'll Have a public beta of TurnOver out soon, but do want to know where to focus my efforts in patching VoiceOver's shortcommings.
So I just got my new Mac and, of course, I have Mac OS 15 now (I hadn't bothered updating my old Mac). And the Music app is...an unmitigated disaster with Voice Over. My arrows and quick nav absolutely do not work with any consistency, and Voice Over seems to just jump me around the screen randomly. Has anyone else had similar issues with this, and, if so, has anyone figured out how to fix it? This is hardly even usable.
Hi,
I'm curious what podcast downloader people are using on their macs these days. I used to use downcast, but it seems to make my computer completely unusable and mute when it's checking for and downloading new episodes. I'm using a 2012 macbook pro with 4 gb ram and 500 gb hard drive and it's running 10.10.5. Any podcast app recommendations would be completely appreciated.
Thanks,
Moop
Please note, I already have VOCR installed. I'm not talking about that.
I mean things to use with a scanner of some sort, i.e. scanning print books. Also something you can feed graphical PDF files, sometimes Preview will recognize them, but not always. Ditto image files, if they have text. It needs to be able to deal with multiple languages, at least English and German. I imagine just about any of them will do that, but I mention it for the sake of completeness.
I love my Mac and use it, with VoiceOver, as much as possible and I've been an Android user for years. Is there any software that will allow me to plug my Sony phone into my Mac, which will allow me to see the contents of my phone? Sometimes, I need to look at something on my SD card or add or remove files from my phone, and I don't want to always have to do it from Windows. I've tried a few things, such as AirDroid, but it's not accessible with VoiceOver.
Thank you for any help you can provide,
Natalia
Good evening everyone, before I hop off to bed I wanted to get this out here and see what comes around.
This is probably quite a general question but I'm interested in your replys.
My MacBook Pro will hopefully arive this or next week and although I know what I want to do with it there still might be tasks that I yet haven't noticed and which I can also do on the Mac instead of Windows.
For example in the feedback app, if you have All selected in the first table with about 9 elements and you are focused in the list of all the feedbacks, vo-j will go backward in the first table, then back in the search text field, then in "image, content is empty" and you can't go anywhere from there you have to use other vo commands to get out of the endless broken cycle. For information I am generally in announce groups navigation mode. They better not break this in iwork apps next! Otherwise this seems to get more weird with each release.
In my opinion I don’t know what’s my favourite because I’ve only played around macOS Hier macOS Mojave macOS Catalina macOS Monterey macOS 13 macOS 14
MacOS 10.15 is good as well,
So what was your favourite version
Hi all, quite simply I was just wondering for those who are waiting for the next big cat to pounce and reveal itself, what features are you hoping that they may include? For me it's a couple of Safari Voiceover tidy ups so to speak. These are when VO keeps saying "internal" before most but not all links and the other is the 3 items, 2 items, etc when navgating by headings. Just wanted to start a frendly discussion on what you are all eagarly awaiting for in the next Mac OSX version.
Hi. I'm putting this in here, seeing as I used a Mac with the prior build on it. When I signed into the appleid.apple.com to check on a problem, this is what happened. The email went fine. When I entered the password, it made that weird "You put in the wrong password" sound. When I clicked cancel, I was then back into another password box where after entering the exact same thing, this time I got the device notifications to enter the six digit code. So what's the hold up?
