Hi everyone, hope you're doing well and staying safe :-) I'm running macOS sequoia though this problem has persisted over several Mac operating system versions. When my Mac is locked and the display is dimmed. VoiceOver was still say something like "application authentication secure edit text dimmed" is there any way to stop this from happening please? Thank you very much for your help everyone :-)

Hello everyone,

Recently, I reset all my VoiceOver settings to factory defaults in the Accessibility Utility because of some strange issues I was experiencing. The good news is that this resolved some problems, but the bad news is that I now have to reconfigure all my VoiceOver preferences.

Since upgrading to Big Sir 11.3, I've noticed the re-appearance of a VO bug that I had on my old Mac Air. VO will stop speaking but will remain active because I can still hear the sound effects. I can fix this by turning VO on and off. I have a MacBook Air M1.
I am using the Alex voice. I can try another voice but the ones I tried don't seem as clear to me. Can anyone let me know if they are also experiencing this bug, and if there is another high quality voice that I could try instead of Alex?
Thanks

I find that Voiceover will very frequently stop speaking mid sentence or mid word. This is usually, but not always, on a webpage. It usually happens when moving through elements with VO right and left or just left and right with quick nav. Focus will land on a block of text and Voiceover will read fine for a while and after a seemingly random period of time, it will just stop. It does not require a VO restart to get it talking again. It just stops reading that element. I can move to another block of text or back to the same one and the behavior may or may not repeat.

Hi I am wondering if someone can help. I have a 2020 Mac book Pro 13 I5 with 16gb of ram. I have had an issue with Voiceover for the past couple of weeks. I am running the latest version of Big sur. The issue I am having is that Voiceover is talking double when I am navigating around a screen. Sometimes it will sound like she is saying the same thing but micro seconds apart and other times, she is saying one thing then will completely say something different. Is this a known bug with Mac os Big Sur? Does anyone know if and how to fix it?

Hi,

From some time ago Pages on the Mac is annoying since for some reason when I’m typing text every few words voiceover will tell the paragraph style that is applied to the text. Even if I’m using only one style every few words I hear the word “Body”in reference to the style that is in use in the text. I don’t remember when this started, but before the style was only mentioned when there was a change in style. For example if I was reading the document I only heard the style name when there was a change, but not while I was typing.

Hello everyone.

I've installed Ventura recently. Have been satisfied with it more or less. Many new bugs, but many fixes and overall improvements. Especially glad about new VoiceOver languages.

Hi AppleVis,
So I was toying with the idea of getting more used to actual mouse and trackpad gestures on MacOS. Some of these are really handy; in fact some pretty basic concepts (E.G. non-contiguous selection) don't even have system-wide, non-VO-dependent keyboard equivalents.

Post Date:

Hi all,
Is there a trackpad gesture to close active window in Voiceover, similar to the keyboard shortcut Command + W? Also, is there a gesture to perform back command (command + {)?
Thank you all.

Hi all. Today, VoiceOver speech has suddenly turned itself off on my MacBook. Note that sound is still on, and VoiceOver sound effects are still on. Also, I checked in the VO utility and speech is not muted. I also checked that system preferences sound output is configured correctly. VoiceOver volume is set to 100%. I get the same problem regardless of which voice I select.

I'm on Catalina, but it's not an OS problem. My computer dual boots Mojave, and I experience the same problem if I boot either OS. This appears to be a hardware or NVRAM issue.

Hi there!

Are there any Voiceover experts that would be willing to tutor me either in South Florida or by Zoom?

Thanks so much!

Hi there! Would anyone be able to help me in finding someone to help me learn how to use Voiceover, perhaps by Zoom or phone?

All the best,

Michael

Hello Apple Vis,
Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for an app, or piece of software that is useful for cleaning your mac. I’ve used App cleaner and it cleaners the apps, and their extra files, but I’m looking for something like AVG Cleaner. My luck with AVG Cleaner it’s not working. At least functionality isn’t working. I’m able to scroll around and see the widget, but I get a ding when I click. Therefore nothing happens.
Would anyone have any app suggestions that are good and can clean out a mac.
Chuck

Hey guys:

I purchased the latest keyboard maestro version 8.2.4 today, but it is hard to use for me. I click the New action button, and action selector opened. I navigated, but can hear "image" and "image". All useful contents cannot be read. So I hope someone could give The feedback to the developer to fix the problems on the app,. Thanks

EDIT: This post has been updated with a new build which fixes some bugs that could prevent the game from running at all.

EDIT: Link updated to newer build again. EDIT 3: And again.

I’ve tried to make Infocom's Journey accessible in my interactive fiction interpreter Spatterlight (previous post here), and I think it is ready for testing.

In English, years are often shortened to an apostrophe followed by the last two digits. For example, '30. Some word processors convert the apostrophe to a right single quote. That's okay and is exactly what I want for my work.

The problem is that many VoiceOver voices incorrectly verbalize the right single quote with an assumption for the century. For example, rather than verbalize right single quote 30 as "30", some voices verbalize this as "1930". That's a real problem if the text is actually referring to 2030, or 2130.

Hey everyone, I hope I am posting this in the correct section. I'm curious to everyone's thoughts on using jaws with windows or voiceover with macs. If you have used both which do you prefer and maybe some advantages and disadvantage of both. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi all

completely new at Applevis forum.... We, or better, my girlfriend is using VoiceOver for a couple of years. When browsing on the web she always starts at the same way:
VO+D to get on the dock
Select Safari
Open safari
Press COMMAND+L to get on the "open location"
since a couple of days, the problem occurs, after she selects COMMAND+L, that she can't type any text in the "open location" bar. When we putt off the voice over everything works normal.
